SCRAPBOOK 2003:

Born To Be Wild

Child of child of child of the 60's

August 31, 2003

This was the 1st of three shows we did for "Triple Threat Sunday" and our second ever Indian Motorcycle Grand Opening. Take our standard summer recipe for a great event (San Diego weather, Rockola fans, kids, barbeque, Rock-n-Roll, etc.) then add a dash of eccentricity (like bike enthusiasts and the machines that make them the stuff of Americana legendry),and you might get a good feel for the flavor of this one. The sun was hot, but so was the music, if I do say so myself. The Planet (103.7) sent our great friend and radio institution Jim McInnis to handle the introductions. But wait, there's more... Jim brought his better ... make that WAY better...half, the lovely Sandi Banister. (We love you Sandi, but you knew that, yes?) Doug's son Cody Booth debuted his electric guitar abilities with a blistering version of Cream's "Sunshine of your Love", and I won a $45 dollar bet by getting the ENTIRE audience on their feet, even if I did cheat a little. "Oh say can you see..."
